A widespread misuse of LPG cylinders came to light on Thursday night in Malur town. Several people had complained to the Tahsildar G Rashmi that LPG cylinders meant for home use are being sold in the black market for commercial use. Based on these complaints the Tahsildar formed nine different teams and raided several hotels and bakeries in the town and recovered 13 cylinders. When people protested against the illegal sale of LPG cylinders the DC himself arrived at the scene and asked the police to take the distributor Ramegowda into custody.

Later Ramegowda was arrested. A lot of irregularities were found in the distribution of LPG cylinders. The Tahsildar later recommended the cancellation of the distribution rights of agency.
