B’lore Cricketers score

Nelson Pinto and Sunil C Swamy share seven wickets between them as Bangalore Cricketers downed Engrades CC by 111 runs in the MTR Nivarana Basavanagudi Cup on Saturday. Batting first, Bangalore Cricketers were dismissed for 193 in 27 overs with Habib top-scoring with 47. In reply, Engrades CC could manage only 82 as Pinto (4/20) and Swamy (3/7) ripped through the rival batting line-up.

Brief scores: Jayanagar Colts: 274/7 in 29 overs (Vikas 96, Sumukh 51, M Naveen 39, Bharath 29) bt City Gymkhana: 157/9 in 29 overs (Vinay 31, Ajith 45; Sajjan Poovaiah 2-29, M N Kiran 4-28).

Bangalore Cricketers: 193 all out in 27 overs (Habib 47, Sandesh 38; Sunil 2-43, Shashi 2-33) bt Engrades CC: 82 all out in 21 overs (Sunil 30; Nelson Pinto 4-20, Sunil C Swamy 3-7).

Jaidur Cricketers: 230/7 in 30 overs (Jagadish 44, Chetan 42, Sagar Y 25; Arun 3-45, Akash 2-26) bt Hanumantha Nagar CC: 192/9 in 28 overs (GK Anil Kumar 72, Akash 39; Arun 2-19, Kiran 2-38).

YMCA: 222 all out in 29.1 overs (Mahesh 41, Yogesh 32, Murali 32; Ramanna 3-22, Pradeep 3-20) bt Mount Joy CC: 174 all out in 29.4 overs (Vineet Ashok 77, Pradeep 32; Jai Kumar 4-21).

Canara Bank, KSP win

Canara Bank outclassed Army Service Corps 4-1 to set up the title clash with Karnataka State Police (KSP) in the 11th Field Marshal Cariappa Memorial hockey tournament on Saturday. Krishna Reddy (30th), John Verghese (42nd), Sunil Benjamin (47th) and Varun Chinnappa (57th) struck for Canara while Rawa Bengra netted the consolation goal for ASC in the 26th minute.

Results: Canara Bank: 4 (Krishna Reddy 30th, John Verghese 42nd, Sunil Benjamin 47th, Varun Chinnappa 57th)  bt ASC: 1 (Rawa Bengra 26th); KSP: 2 (Mohan Kumar 4th, Pradeep 8th) bt MLI: 0.

Socials, Thamarai draw

Vel Socials and Thamaraikannan played out a 1-1 draw in the ‘C’ Division football league at the IISC ground on Saturday. Govindaraju put Vel Social ahead in the 20th minute but Rajendra restored parity for Thamaraikannan in the 36th minute.

Inter-school chess meet

Prakrit Kidzone in association with United Karnataka Chess Association will conduct an inter-school chess tournament on February 16 at Chairman’s Club, Sahakaranagar. The tournament will be held for five age groups — under-5, under-9, under-11, under-13 and under-15.
