KCCI PLEA
'Initiate study for sky bus project'

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has requested the Advisor to the Government of Karnataka S Krishnakumar to initiate the study for the proposed sky bus project in Mangalore that would assess the feasibility of the project and also to approve the sum for expenditure under Urban Development by the government or through an appropriate agency.

According to a press release, Konkan Railway Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Anurag Misra has assured the Chamber that a demonstration shall be arranged at the Madgaon station. Hence, the chamber has requested Mr Krishnakumar to initiate the process.  The sky bus is an in-house production of the Konkan Railway Corporation, which offers Indian technology for Indian conditions. It is likely to cost Rs 1,500 crores on completion, is expected to serve 150,000 commuters at peak hours and a most viable public transport system for the growing city.
