Former Minister M C Nanaiah has announced his decision to join JD(S).
Speaking at a meet, he said he will be joining the JD(S) to strengthen the party and to grow JD(S) as an alternative to BJP-Congress in the State.
He will be joining the party in a convention in the presence of JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda on February 16.
He said “BJP and Congress have hatched a plot to destroy JD(S) in the State. With an aim to keep JD(S) alive in the state politics, I am joining JD(S). There is no hidden agenda to gain power.”
Mr Nanaiah said all the efforts to unite all factions of Janata Parivar has failed. It was not possible to float a new party at this political situation. It was better for me to join JD(S) which still has the principles of original Janata Dal.” He said: “I resigned when former chief minister late J H Patel entered an unholy alliance with the NDA.
However, I had not joined any political party. I remained a true Janata Dal activists. I have not lost my identity in politics. Without power, I remained honest to the people and have gained my respect.” “Former CM S M Krishna had sent an invitation to join Congress. I didn’t accept the offer,” he added.
“On February 16, all the fractions of Janata Dal will join JD(S). I will work towards strengthening the party,” he announced.
“If Kumaraswamy had handed over power to BJP, then JD(S) would have been destroyed in the State. It was a greatest contribution of JD(S) for not handing over the power to BJP,” he opined.
