Bangalore, DHNS:

Stressing on teacher empowerment, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly on Sunday said the board is looking at tying up with leading management institutes such as IIMs for leadership programmes for teachers and head of the institutions.

Addressing a press conference, he said various teacher empowerment activities were being conducted through the Sahodaya movement which came into being in 1980s to facilitate synergy of ideas among the schools of CBSE family.

More than 3,000 schools are part of the empowerment activities, he said and added, language should be given communicative approach. “Teachers manual for maths has been compiled and Science should be based on practical aspect,” Mr Ganguly said. Mr Ganguly said sex education will not be introduced in schools. However, adolescent education, a part of co-curricular activity had been introduced, he said.

He said he did not receive any communication from the Pre-University department. It is not possible to announce the results in advance, as the evaluation has to take place across the country. The results for Class 12 will be announced in May third week and for Class 10, the results would be announced in May fourth week.
