Polio: 5.6 lakh immunised

 In the second round of the pulse polio drive conducted by the BBMP, 80.2 per cent of the target of 7.02 lakh children under the age of five, were covered in 100 BMP wards on Sunday.

As many as 2,100 booths were set up by BBMP and 5.63 lakh children covered. The drive will continue for the next three days. There will be a door to door campaign, and booths will be set up in public places like railway stations, bus stands etc. The 419 BBMP health officials and doctors were assisted by NGOs nursing college students and Rotary Club of Bangalore.

A polio diagnosis camp was held on Sunday by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and Narayan Sewa Sansthan, Udaipur for the distribution of support aids and conducted corrective surgeries free of cost.

Former MLA Mr K Chandrashekhar inaugurated the camp.
On Sunday, 1107 patients were registered. And, 120 tricycles, 40 wheel chairs, 40 crutches were distributed and 450 patients selected for operation and 103 were measured for calipers.
Hundred hearing aids were also distributed.
