The State paid rich tributes to its first chief minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah on his birth centenary celebrations. Governor Rameshwar Thakur, after inaugurating the birth centenary celebrations at a function organised in front of Vidhana Soudha, said Kengal Hanumanthaiah was a visionary and had a holistic outlook for the inclusive growth of the State.
He said his birth centenary would be celebrated by organising seminars in Bangalore and New Delhi. A biography of Hanumanthaiah, pictorial volume comprising his rare photographs be published as part of the celebrations.
Legislative Council Chairman Prof B K Chandrashekhar demanded that a museum, comprising rare photographs of Hanumanthaiah and his letters, be set up in Vidhana Soudha.
The Centre should bring out special stamp to commemorate his birth centenary.
Study Centre
Former minister K H Ranganath, speaking at a similar function organised by Kannada Janashakti, said that the State government should set up a study centre in the name of Kengal Hanumanthaiah.
