A meeting was held at the premises of the Venkataramanaswamy temple to discuss the grievances of the people belonging to the Nayak community in the taluk.
From past 20 years the politicians belonging to the various factions have only assured of providing a site for the construction of the Valmiki ashram but so far nothing much has been done in this regard, they stated. Since three years 6,249 SC students in the taluk have not been provided with scholarship.
Thus, it was decided to contact the senior officials in the Social Welfare department to bring to their notice the step motherly treatment meted out to the students. Also, appeal was made to provide security to the Nayak people through making appropriate provisions in the law at the meeting.
Moreover, the officials in the Social Welfare department are unable to secure the assistance to the poor in the Nayak community from the government, they observed. President S Chennarayappa and others were present.
