SpiceJet offers gifts on return bookings
SpiceJet has announced a promotional offer for its passengers by giving away assured gifts worth Rs 5,000 on every return booking—a move intended to woo customers during lean travel months of February and March.
As per the scheme, travellers booking a return ticket will receive a scratch card which will entitle them to win gifts like digital cameras, holiday packages, Rs 5000 cash back or air tickets. To avail this offer, travellers must book their return tickets between February 10 and 17 for travel up to March 31 on all SpiceJet sectors. However, this offer is available only on www.spicejet.com.
Videocon Appliances board approves change of name
Videocon Appliances Ltd on Monday said in New Delhi that its board has approved the change in the name of the company to “Value Industries Ltd,’’ subject to necessary approvals.
The company in a statement said it will also look at the business of providing, executing, implementing, hiring, working as EPC contractors, providing turnkey services for industrial activities and manufacturing, trading of all kinds of machineries, components, engineering equipments.
TCS’ 2nd global delivery centre in Hyderabad
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) on Monday announced the launch of its second Global Delivery Centre (GDC) in Hyderabad. Synergy Park, which is located in Gachibowli will be inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Synergy Park will be the second TCS campus and the largest TCS facility in Hyderabad. Built over an area of 50 acres with a capacity of 8,000 people, the campus is being built in two phases; the first phase is already operational while the construction of phase two will commence in April 2008.
Universal Sompo enters general life insurance biz
Universal Sompo General Insurance, a joint venture between Allahabad Bank, Sompo Japan Insurance Corporation, Indian Overseas Bank, Karnataka Bank and Dabur Investment, on Monday entered into the general insurance space with the launch of two policies. The two products - Standard Fire and Special Perils Policy and Aapat Suraksha Bima - were launched by Finance Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi.
“The joint venture has been capitalised with shareholder fund of over Rs 235 crore, with a paid up capital of Rs 150 crore,” Universal Sompo Chairman O N Singh said.While the foreign partner will have 26 per cent stake in the venture, the lead domestic partner Allahabad Bank will have 30 per cent stake in the company.
Perot Systems eyes global acquisitions: CEO
Perot Systems Corp is looking to acquire firms in the healthcare services to boost its global revenue, its chief executive said on Monday. Peter Altabef, who is in New Delhi to attend a function at its facility, did not specify where he was looking for an acquisition but said there were plans to expand its operations in India. “We’re looking to make strategic acquisitions in healthcare,” he told Reuters. “We tend to acquire small companies... and then grow.” Plano, Texas-based Perot, which provides IT and BPO services, had earned half its $2.6 billion revenue in 2007 from the healthcare services sector. Mr Altabef said $1 billion of that revenue came from companies Perot had acquired over the past eight years.
