“Tumkur being a city of educational institutions, hosts students of different nationalities and states. The intelligence department and the police personnel should keep a hawk’s eye on any unusual activity especially around Sira, Tiptur and Tumkur. Siddaganga mutt, Yediyur temple, Markonhalli dam and other important tourists and religious places must be guarded” were among the many demands of the protesting members.
The protest started from the Sri Shivakumar Swamiji road to the SP office after which they submitted a memorandum to SP Dr Harsha.
They also added that the Central Government had banned the dreaded Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) for only two years when it has been established that the organisation has been involved in various terror activities. “Such groups that threaten the solidarity of our society and the national security of our country must be banned permanently,” they said.
The protest was led by ABVP convener Rayasandra Ravikumar along with Ganesh, Shashidhar, Prithvi, Yatish and Vinay.
