The rains that were accompanied by lighting and thunder has been feared by the farmers as it is the flowering season in the mango trees and rains will destroy the flowers which in turn will to the reduced yield.
It is said that flowering in mango trees is already reduced compared to the last year.
Even traders are worried over the rains as they already taken the contract of the mango plantations. Rains accompanied by hail stone can spell doom to the entire mango crop, feared farmers.
The sudden rains has already destroyed the crops, pulses like avare, horse pea and even hay which were put up for drying by the farmers. The farming activity has also come to a halt due to the rains.
Though some rain water has accumulated in the tanks and ponds the damaged inflicted by the water accumulated in drainage and roads has made people regret the rains.
A lot of people have been reported to have hurt themselves by the falling prey to the water filled ditches and roads.
