It is absolute chaos at the Tumkur railway station on Monday morning. Security personnel thronged every corner of the place and it was a sea of humanity everywhere. They were all there to greet a very distinguished guest.
Union Minister for railways Lalu Prasad Yadav has always held his own brand charm with the Indian public.
So it was but natural that people gathered in large numbers to greet him when they learnt of his visit to Tumkur.
However for the security personnel and the police it is nothing short of a nightmare controlling the large numbers.
However the usual omnipresent smile that is Lalu’s trademark seemed absent when he arrived at the railways station, accompanied by his black cat commandoes.
As he arrived at Tumkur Station, there was a mad rush among the people who had thronged the station to see him. The security personnel accompanied him to a car. IGP Doreswamy Nayak, S P Dr Harsha were trying to keep the crowd at bay. In the midst of the commotion, there was a lathicharge on some people who staged a protest, waving black flags and shouting slogans against the minister and the railways’ anti-Kannada stand. The Deputy Commissioner S R Umashankar could not hand over the bouquet he had brought to hand over to the minister.
