While many areas in Bangalore struggle to get proper drinking water, a broken pipe of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s (BWSSB) is not only causing wastage of copious amount of the precious commodity but is disrupting the training activities at the National Cricket Academy.
On Monday the leaking water almost flooded the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s ‘B’ ground — where the NCA is located — posing danger to the practice pitches. The NCA functions almost round the year and a number of youngsters from across the country come here to train. Only last week the under-19 World Cup-bound team was having a conditioning camp at the facility.
The NCA and KSCA authorities said they had lodged a complaint with the BWSSB but got no response, though the problem has been there for more than three weeks now in varying degrees.
The NCA officials complained that whenever there is excess pressure in the pipelines, more water flows into the ground and this usually happens during nights, making it difficult for the groundsmen to take any precautionary measure.
