Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav gave his approval for the direct railway route between Chitradurga and Tumkur.
He was speaking after inaugurating the State Yadav Convention, which was jointly organised by the Sri Krishna Yadav Mahasamsthana, Zilla Yadav Sangha, State Yadav Sangha and State Yadav Workers’ Welfare Association, on Monday at the city Government Arts College.
The work on this direct rail route will be started on a war footing basis within a month. Moreover, there is no shortage of funds in the department for the implementation of this project, said Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The aspirations of the people of this region will come true with the construction of the direct rail route connectivity between Chitradurga and Tumkur. Also, more job opportunities will be created for the people of this region.
Chitradurga is a historical region and the fact that it is backward is also known. Thus, without belying the trust of the people of this region the rail work will be kickstarted soon, added Mr Yadav.
Chitradurga which constantly experiences drought is very backward. More than 80 per cent of the people in this region are poor. Though the prevalent situation in the region has been made known to all the concerned ministers nothing has been done to alleviate poverty and initiate development in the region.
Thus, this direct rail route holds utmost importance to the people of this region. Also, a rail spare parts manufacturing industry needs to be set up at Challakere , observed parliamentarian N Y Hanumanthappa.
