Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, popularly known as Amma, will visit the City for three days from February 17 to 19. She is specially arriving here to take part in the Brahmasthanam Prathishtapana Mahotsava to be conducted in the premises of Amrita Vidyalayam at Boloor.
Addressing press persons here on Tuesday, the Amrita Sangama 2008 Reception Committee President Dr Jeevaraj Sorake said preparations were on full swing for the three-day long grand conclave.
Amma will install divine statues at the newly constructed Brahmasthanam and perform poojas. The Mangalore Brahmasthanam located near Sulthan Bathery is the 19th one in the country, which has been built at an expenditure of Rs 70 lakh with the contributions of the donors, he said.
The Pratishtapana rituals will be performed in between 11.48 am and 1.48 pm on February 18. Besides this, there will be dhayan, bhajan, satsang and darshan by Mata Amritanandamayi on other days. Dawn to dusk Lalita Sahasranama Archana will be convened in the venue on all three days, Dr Sorake explained.
Amma’s satsang and darshan to devotees would be held from 6.30 pm on the first two days. It will be in between 10 am to 6.30 pm on the last day, i.e., on February 19, he added.
As Amma is considered as a ‘State Guest’, the district administration has provided special security to her.
Elaborate arrangements have also been made for food, transport, parking and medical services. Special arrangements will be made for the convenience of physically challenged. Apart from DK, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kasaragod, people from all districts of Karnataka are expected to participate. As the ceremony is distributed on three days, the rush will not create much inconvenience, he observed.
Amma’s darhan will be only through tokens, which will be provided by volunteers on the day of darshan itself.
They are not available anywhere outside. One need not pay any fee for this, he clarified.
