Udupi Railway Yathri Sangha has demanded the extension of Bangalore-Mangalore train to Karwar.

According to a press release, Sangha Advisor R L Dias said the extension of the train will benefit Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.

The Sangha demanded that the number of coaches of Mangalore-Mumbai Matsyagandha Express be increased to 22 and Jan Shatabdi Express between Mangalore and Mumbai be revived once again.  

The weekly Kochuveli-Chandigarh Sampark Kranti Express should be allowed to halt at Udupi. Special trains should be run between Mangalore and Mumbai during summer and winter.

The Railway police station at Manipal should be shifted to Udupi.

A pay booth should be started for taxis and auto-rickshaws at Udupi Railway Station.

Coin booth facility for platform tickets should be installed at the railway station, the release added.
