One killed in shooting

Sakleshpur, DHNS: One person was killed and two were injured when an unidentified person fired on a group at a timber depot in Kadamane in Sakleshpur Taluk on Monday night.
Shivaram (50) from Kerala, who was cutting  trees in the depot, was killed while Thambi (52) from Chikkamagalur and T P Gopinath (48) from Mudigere were injured.

KPCC condemns statement

Bangalore, DHNS: The KPCC on Tuesday condemned BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu for allegedly saying “Jai Andhra” at the end of his speech  at a public rally at Gangavathi in Karnataka recently.

Naidu, a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka, has shown his true colour by making the statement. He has deliberately said it in order to gain the votes of migrants from AP settled in Gangavathi, KPCC general secretary Prakash Rathod said in a release. He has urged the State BJP leaders to keep Naidu away from Karnataka in the interest of the State.

Muslim Council launched

Belgaum, DHNS: The Karnataka Muslim Council was launched in Belgaum on Tuesday, to strengthen the Muslim community in the State. The KMC will have  branches in all 29 districts in the state, according to former union minister C M Ibrahim.  The organisation will respond to the problems of the Muslim community in the State and will also extend financial assistance to needy families.
