Newly constructed Kalabhyraveshwaraswami temple at the cost of Rs 85 crore at Adichunchanagiri kshetra in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district, will be dedicated for devotees on February 17.
Sri Adichunchanagiri mutt has lined up several programmes, including Mahakumbabisheka on February 17, as part of the event which will be witnessed by an estimated five lakh people from across the country.
Built in Dravidian style, the east-west length of the temple is 275 feet and north-south 175 feet. The temple has four beautifully sculpted gopuras. While three of them are 57 feet high, the raja gopura, facing east, is 100 feet tall
The temple has a total of 172 carved pillars and an attractive 10.5-foot tall Astabhairava statue in front of gharbagudi. The statue is carved out of Krishnashile. However, the work of carving a 23-foot tall Shivalinga is still in progress.
1,200 people at work
In fact, the construction work began in August 1993 and as many as 1,200 people have been working on the project. The work will be completed next year.
For the convenience of devotees, the government has recently constructed a Yatrinivas and a guest house, which can accommodate 5,000 people.
The Adhichunchanagiri kshetra apart from attracting devotees is also drawing a number of tourists.
As a result, the government has chalked out plans to set up a musical fountain at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore on the lines of Brindavan gardens in KRS.
Briefing reporters on Tuesday, Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami of the Mutt said elaborate preparations have been made ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the event.
