Tumkur, DHNS: As part of the Tumkur Utsav a play will be staged by the Kundapur Roopa Kala troupe at Government PU grounds at 6 pm. The event is being organised by the Tumkur district administration, Kannada and Culture Department and the Tourism Department.

Lalu’s apology demanded

Kolara, dhns: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Kolar district unit has demanded an apology from Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for insulting the Kannadigas and hurting their sentiments.

The KRV has urged that the ‘D’ Group jobs in Railways should be reserved only for Kannidgas. Besides,  a memorandum has been sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that Lalu should be dropped from the Cabinet for having said that the Kannadigas are a ‘dirty’ lot.

KRY leaders N Kodandaramaiah, Medihala M K Raghavendra, Tower Azeem, K T Venugopal and others have signed the memorandum.

Defence Security Corps

A selection rally to select former Army men for the post of Defence Security Corps Sainik general duty, has been organised from February 26 to 28 at Maneckshaw Parade Grounds in Bangalore. The candidates should be below 45 years. They should have excellent conduct. They should not have been dismissed from service. They should be present at the rally along with discharge book, two photo copies (attested), caste certificate and proof of address. DMO’s harassment alleged

KGF, dhns: In the light of the alleged harassment meted out by District Medical officer Dr Shivaram on the women employees and staff of the General Maternity hospital in KGF, the president of the District Government Employees association L A Manjunath visited the Epidemic Diseases hospital suddenly on Tuesday and took the DMO to task. He took this step after he had received a written complaint regarding the abusive language the DMO had allegedly used on the women health assistants and harassing them.
