Srinath lauds young pacers
DH News Service, Mangalore:

Former Indian speedster Javagal Srinath said on Wednesday that Indian pace attack was in safe hands.

“Indian pace attack is definitely in safe hands. Ishant Sharma is a better bowler than me. He is the best fast bowler after Brett Lee,” Srinath said. He was in the city to lay the foundation stone to a modern sports complex of the Manipal University campus in Mangalore.

Srinath, currently an ICC match referee, said that India could register a victory against Australia in Perth only because of swing bowling, making a special mention of RP Singh and Irfan Pathan. He also lavished praise on middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma.

“RP and Pathan bowled well in this series. They hold great promise for the future,” he said.

On temperamental Kerala pace bowler S Sreesanth, he said, “Sreesanth will not be the same bowler if he is devoid of his aggression. It is better to leave him alone,” he said. “But as he is already to match referee three times, he should know where to draw the line.”
