Museum gets a third dimension
Bangalore, DHNS:
Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum threw open to the public a theatre where three-dimensional films will be screened.

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum has just added another dimension to its showcased content, literally. On Wednesday, it threw open to the public a theatre where three-dimensional films will be screened. The 3-D digital theatre, complete with a high-definition digital media server, has two digital video projectors and a 3.6-metre screen.

The 42-seater theatre was opened to a group of visitors who were treated to a terrific visual display. Two films — The Illuminated Brain and Dive! Manned Submersibles and New Explorers — were screened. The films are of the duration 12 minutes and 25 minutes respectively.

While the first film explores the human brain, the second traces deep-ocean manned submersibles in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Washington.

Curator K A Sadhana said the new theatre has been built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. The old theatre will be shifted to Gulbarga, she said.

The theatre will screen seven shows through the day, starting at 11.30 am.
Polaroid spectacles required to watch 3-D films will be provided at the theatre. Entry fee is Rs 20 per head (Rs 10 per head for organised student groups).
