According to a release from the organisers, as many as 250 delegates from 25 colleges of south Indian states will take part in the convention. The meet is being held under the theme “social work and social legislation” with the objective to provide an opportunity to understand the need of social legislations for social work professionals, and to promote the use of social legislations in social work approach.
Dr Vimla V Nadkarni, the professor and dean of School of Social Work in Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai) will inaugurate the meet at 10.30 am. SDM Educational Society Secretary Dr B Yashovarma will preside, the release stated.
Various resource persons will present papers on different topics on two days. Issues like ‘Social work and social legislation’, ‘NGOs and social legislation’ and ‘Citizens partnership and social legislation’ will be discussed on the first day, while ‘Media and social legislation’ will be debated on the second day. There will also be detonate competitions to the participants such as social marketing, social imaging, social activist and case analysis.
The valedictory ceremony will be held at 4.30 pm on February 16.
SDM Law College Principal and Chairman of Centre for PG Studies in Law Dr B K Raveendra will deliver the valedictory address. P G Department of Social Work Dean Prof J Mahaveer will preside, the press release added.
