Once upon a time... A man gestures as he describes boarding a train at the now deserted platform of the abandoned Begunkodor Railway Station, West Bengal. Begunkodor is a station in Purulia district where no train has stopped since 1972, apparently because of a phantom woman who dances on the platform or walks along the tracks. Elders of nearby villages tell of a woman, who was run over by a train, a vision of whom has allegedly appeared walking alongside the station in a white sari. Officials of Indian railways are considering reopening the station after appeals from local members of Parliament. AFP
