Defending champions North Zone defeated East Zone by 433 runs on the final day of the four-day Duleep Trophy match at the Madhavrao Scindia Ground here on Thursday.
With this win, North Zone moved into the final. East Zone were shot out for a paltry 243 runs, shortly before the tea break after North set a daunting target of 677 for victory.
North medium pacer VRV Singh, who did not turn up for fielding on Wednesday due to fever and body pain, took three of the last four wickets on the final day to hasten East’s collapse.
