Rly track doubling

Mysore, DHNS: The first phase of two-phase Mysore-Bangalore railway track doubling work will be completed next month, according to  Southern Railway General Manager Praveen Kumar here on Thursday.
   He said the phase I between Bangalore and Ramanagaram will be completed by March 2008 and the phase II between Ramanagaram-Mysore which is a 90 km stretch will be completed by March 2011.

Airport expansion

Mysore, DHNS: In a bid to help expansion of Mysore airport, the Centre may approve by February 22 the shifting of a stretch of the national highway, Urban Development Department Secretary V P Baligar said here. He said once the approval is received, the process to acquire 180 acres of land required for re-aligning the highway will begin.  
He said work on the runway was almost complete and the construction of the air traffic control work would begin soon.

Honorary doctorate

Mangalore, DHNS: Mangalore University will confer honorary doctorate on former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, badminton player Prakash Padukone, Mysore University former vice-chancellor Dr P Selvie Das, litterateur Sara Aboobakkar and philanthropist G Shankar at the 26th annual convocation scheduled to be held on February 16.
