The Department of Stamps and Registration has clarified that the revision of building rates in Karnataka was not done in consultation with the Lokayukta. Reacting to a Deccan Herald report on the revision that appeared on Thursday, Inspector General of Registration H Shashidhar said the Lokayukta’s opinion was not specifically sought for determining the rates though the Lokayukta has been reviewing the department’s measures in general.
“... the Honourable Lokayukta keeps reviewing the initiatives pertaining to good governance and prevention of corruption taken by the Department of Stamps and Registration,” he clarified.
