Man commits suicide

Kolar Gold Fields, dhsn: Shankar (45) a resident Picchalli hung himself at his residence on Wednesday. 

The incident occurred in the Urigam Police station limits. It is being said that Shankar killed himself due to depression. Being a drunkard, he was unable to cope without his drink because he had no money.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Woman arrested

Kolar Gold Fields, dhsn: The Robertson police station personnel acting on a tip off arrested one woman who was selling illicit liquor and seized 10 liters of the liquid from her.

The arrested as been identified as Suzie Marie (50) who conducted her business near meat shops.

When the police raided her, they managed to seize 10 litres of the substance upon her . She has be remanded to judicial custody.

Girl ends life

Kolar Gold Fields, dhsn:  A young girl of seventeen set herself on fire on Thursday in Robertson Police station limits.

Srilakshmi daughter of retired employee Velu, was a resident of Ashoknaga in KGF. She suffered from severe stomach ache and when it could not be treated, she set herself on fire out of sheer depression.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Woman killed in mishap

Malur, dhns: In a freak accident, a sack containing carrots fell out of speeding tempo, killing one woman labourer on the spot and  injuring two other women labourers seriously. The incident took place near Doddakere village in Malur town on Wednesday.

The three women were travelling in the tempo, when the chain of the backdoor broke and the carrot bags fell on them. Venkatalakshmamma (40) died on the spot.

Gowramma (40) sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to NIMHANS, Bangalore, while Amaravati (30) has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Kolar.

The police have registered a case and investigations are being conducted.
