Rashtriya Kisan Sabha secretary Konche Shivarudrappa has alleged that the State Bank of Mysore officers have deceived the farmers by not giving them their crop insurance money and also giving false information. Hence, he demanded that they should be immediately suspended.
He was addressing a group of protesters at a rally organised by the Rashtriya Kisan Sabha in front of the Mysore Bank, here on Friday and said the farmers’ plight was like that of a devotee whom though the God grant’s the wish, the priest refuses to give him.
The insurance department has released the crop insurance to be distributed to the farmers to the banks. Why is it that the bank officers are hesitating to release it, he wondered.
There is confusion in calculating the insurance amount due and how is it that there is difference in the money that is due to the farmers in the same village, he asked.
To overcome this problem, the insurance department should directly issue the cheques in the farmers’ names and the necessary details of the farmers should be collected in advance, he said.
Otherwise, the banks will harass the farmers relentlessly, he charged.
They should not test the patience of the farmers, he said and warned that if the bank does not set right the anomalies, then the agitation in front of the bank will be intensified.
