Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishath and DK district administration will jointly organise sixth Sugama sangeetha sammelan ‘Geetotsava 2008’ at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore on February 16 and 17.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, Parishath President Muddu Krishna said three stages have been erected and named after Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai, P Kalinga Rao and Panje Mangeshraya. The convention will be inaugurated by well-known poet Dr N S Lakshmi Narayana Bhat. Singer B K Sumithra will preside. Kannada and Culture department Secretary I M Vittalamurthy will release a souvenir on the occasion.

There will be ‘Geetha sankula,’ ‘Haaduvevu naavu,’ ‘Anuranana,’ ‘Hosaberu-hosa chiguru,’ geetha nrithya and seminar on the first day of the convention.

‘Karvali kavya vaibhava,’ ‘Kanaka namana,’ ‘Chalana chitradalli kavi geetegalu,’ ‘Aikya Gana,’ ‘Geeta sangeeta,’ ‘Hasya Geetegalu’ and ‘Geeta gayana’ on February 17, he added.

Kavya gayana will be attended by C Ashwath, Shimoga Subbanna, Kasthuri Shankar, Archana Udupa, Divya Raghavan, Puttur Narasimha Nayak.
