The second national conference on oral laser applications was held recently at the Hotel Chancery Pavilion in the city. Society for Oral Laser Applications (SOLA) was formed to create awareness on laser applications in dentistry.
S.O.L.A India, affiliated to s.o.l.a International based in Vienna conducted the laser conference. The conference was inaugurated by Dr B S Johar, who along with his son Dr Kirpa Lohar, who is a laser dentist were the dental surgeons to bring lasers to Bangalore and Dr Naresh Thukral, founder-president and head of Laser Academy Dr Andrea Moritiz and Dr Franziska Beer from Vienna Medical University were also present at the function.
There were more than 300 delegates who had come from all over India, six international faculty and 20 dental laser companies exhibiting their latest in laser equipment.
Laser dentistry
The scientific sessions covered advances in laser dentistry and had speakers of national and international standing share their knowledge and experiences on various aspects of laser dentistry.
The biggest advantage of laser in dentistry is that it is relatively painless and bloodless surgery. Many minor surgical procedures can be performed with minimal or no anesthesia.
