The Supreme Court on Friday asked a student from Punjab to file his reply to the petition filed by Punjab government and Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) which challenged the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court saying Sikhs are not a minority in the state.
After the preliminary arguments a bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan asked the respondent Sahil Mittal to file his reply as both the state government and SGPC claim that there should be reservation for the Sikhs in the institutions run by Sikh organisations.
