Vishishta Bhasha Puraskara award
Bangalore, dhns: On the eve of International Mother Tongue Day -- 2008, the Andhra Pradesh government has announced the prestigious Vishishta Bhasha Puraskara award to Dr Radhakrishna Raju, Chairman of Karnataka Telugu Academy, for his contribution for upliftment of language, culture, education and fine arts. The award will be presented on February 21, by Andhra Pradesh CM Mr Y S Rajashekhar Reddy at Ravindhrabharathi, Hyderabad.
Ghouse now in Bellary jail
Riazuddin Naser alias Mohammed Ghouse was on Friday remanded to judicial custody till February 28, by the Honnali judicial magistrate. The 20-year-old alleged LeT militant has been sent to the high-security central prison at Bellary.
According to sources, Naser may be taken into police custody by the City police after Feb 28, because he reportedly has information about Abu Hamza, whom he met in Pakistan during his militant training.
Panel okays port upgradation
The State Executive Committee on Friday gave its nod for developing stage II of the Karwar port at a cost of Rs 500 crore. It includes construction of two additional berths to handle five million tonnes of cargo.
SBM shifts office
The SBM, Chickpet branch, has shifted from I floor, Krishna Complex, 904, OTC Road, Chickpet to I floor, Maruti Plaza, OTC Road, Chickpet. Apart from regular services, non-judicial stamp papers will also be sold in the new premises.
