B’lore-Chennai flights
Air India will reintroduce its day return flights on Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore sector and also offer daily flights between Bangalore and Bhubaneshwar, besides additional flights between Bangalore and Kolkata from Monday. There will be a daily flight between Bangalore and Bhubaneshwar leaving the City at 9.30 am to reach Bhubaneshwar at 1 pm via Chennai. Besides, there will be two flights daily between Bangalore and Kolkata effective February 18. While the existing direct flight leaves Bangalore at 6.05 am, the new hopping flight will leave Bangalore at 9.30 am. Call Air India 24-hour helpline 1407, call toll-free no 1800-180-1407.
‘Industry should help farmers’
Of the 1.15 lakh suicides by farmers across India as many as 50,000 were committed by cotton growers, Congress MLC H K Patil said on Friday. Speaking at a national seminar on ‘Strategies for Growth of Indian Apparel Industry’ organised by Bangalore University, Patil said “the industry is thriving and exports continue to rake in profits, but governments should look into the plight of debt ridden farmers.”
Sangeet sammelan
The ITC Sangeet Research Academy is holding the Fourth ITC Sangeet Sammelan here on February 16 and 17 at Chowdiah Hall at 5pm. The sammelan will present ITC SRA gurus - Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta - on day 1, and ITC SRA scholars - Manali Bose and Joyeeta Sanyal followed by Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma - on day 2.
