‘Impart patriotic education’
Tumkur, dhns: Imparting education that conveys the importance of patriotism to the students is essential, said Sri Veereshananda Saraswati, president of Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda ashram.
He was speaking at the “ 1857- a remembrance” programme held recently in Tumkur.
Youth today are going astray as they are being education devoid of patriotic fervour.
The present day education is providing only literacy but is not moulding better citizens out of the youth, observed Sri Veereshananda Saraswati.
Gamaka artist Sunanda was felicitated on the
occasion.
Also, on the occasion 150 students sung Vande Mataram in unison.
Essay collection to be released

Sammelana here on February 22.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat Core Committee honourary secretary Dr Jayamma Kariyanna will
release the book.
Prasad, who has already published Namaskar, Wifu Mattu Vehicallu, Ashwamedha, Minibhaminiyara Naduve, Bichch Maatu, Jokujoke, Bhramara, Musukinolagina Ekanta and other essays, has been writing to Prajavani
regularly.
Encroachment irks public
Tiptur, dhns: The villagers of Heechanoor have alleged that a member of gram panchayat has been encroaching the public road and submitted a memorandum to Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat.
The villagers of Heechanoor have said that gram panchayat member Pramila has encroached a road leading to Bhairaveshwara temple by building her house.
The gram panchayat is negligent regarding the issue, they stated demanding to take action against the encroachment.
