A Hyderabad-based software engineer was allegedly held ‘hostage’ for three days at a software company in Bangalore, for failing to solve the software problem. The ‘kidnappers’ also allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 12 lakh from his parents for the loss they had incurred for their son’s failure.
Police said, Sumit, a native of Gujarat, a software engineer with Panama Infotech Limited in Hyderabad, had come to Bangalore on February 18, on an invitation by Yatri Infotech Limited to sort out their software problems. But he could find no solution even after day and decided to return back to Hyderabad.
Enraged, Directors of Yatri Infotech Ramesh and Dhananjay ‘detained’ him in their office and snatched his laptop and cell phone and manhandled him. The techie’s father received a ransom call demeaning Rs 12 lakh. He came to Bangalore and lodged a complaint. Police arrested Ramesh and Dhananjay.
