India will be world leader

 Economic, education and military might is considered as the yardstick to determine the power of any nation in the global scenario. India is in the forefront in all these three fields and in the future India is going to be the world leader, said DRDO scientist and chief of R and D Dr W Selva Murthy.

 He was speaking at the inauguration of the national convention on “Recent Developments in Mechanical Engineering” held  at Sri Siddhartha Engineering College in Tumkur on Thursday.

Fast growth
The Indian economy is growing at a rate of 9 per cent and even the sensex is indicative of the vibrant growth the country is witnessing, he added.

India has always been a knowledge based economy. Moreover, India is now witnessing a rejuvenation in the domain of knowledge. Till now we have seen industrial, information and knowledge era and now it is going to be the era of leadership. Also, the world scientists have recognised India as the next super power knowledge nation in “New Scientist”magazine. Thus, in the near future India will have to bear the responsibility of leading the world, he Selva Murthy.

Education
Moreover, the central government is laying emphasis on education and it is going to be the top priority in the 11th Five Year Plan. Karnataka is a leader in providing quality education in the entire nation. The role played by private educational institutions in this regard is commendable , opined  DSIR chief advisor Dr A S Rao.
Moreover, mechanical engineering can be considered as the mother of all branches of engineering. Thus, this branch of engineering can never be neglected, he added.

Professors should prepare engineering students who are competent in the international market, observed VTU Vice Chancellor Dr H P Kincha.
