Infosys chief mentor N R Narayanmurthy has regretted that the country did not get a prime minister a strong as Nehru again.
Speaking to media persons during his visit to the city to take part in the gurukul deeksha ceremony of Amber Valley Residential School, he said Nehru led the nation with a foresight in every step, but that kind of vision and progressiveness was not found in any of the politicians in the future days.
Though we have achieved a lot, there is a need to accomplish further by learning lessons from the past. Only increased population and corruption have made us to think that the country has plenty of problems, he observed.
When asked about the future of information technology, NRN said the future would not have any problem until they gave competitive prices and until the youth work hard retaining their creativity.
The IT industry is pollution-free, and one can earn more also. The country should have given more encouragement to this, but you are seeing the kind of support it is getting in Bangalore, he noted.
Commenting on the complaints that students are losing interest in Science and research due to the emergence of IT, Mr Murthy said there was no fault of either students or parents. When a youth gets Rs 25,000 salary as soon as he gets a job, who will reject that? The only solution is to supply engineers more than demand, he said.
Answering a question as why IT industries cannot be opened in a city like Chikmagalur, which is free from pollution, NRN said about 95 per cent of the capital of IT industry flows from foreign countries, which requires facilities like airport, good hotels and other infrastructure.
Chikmagalur lacks such facilities. But it will not be a problem, if both government and IT people sit together and discuss. As many as 147 airports have been established in China by investing about $ 9,300 crores.
Even a small city there has an airport which is bigger than that of Bangalore. We should think about this, he said.
