Sub-division level cultural mela was inaugurated by TMC Chief officer Tusharamani at the Malimariyappa amphi-theatre in Madhugiri.
Holding such cultural melas is important inorder to sensitise the people of Karnataka and those belonging to the other States about the culture, language and heritage of our land. Moreover, literature, art and music have no borders, said Tusharamani.
The onus lies on everybody’s shoulders to protect the art forms in this era of globalisation and technology, said tahsildhar V Prasanna.
One can find traces of our culture only in the folk art forms. Even amidst modern arts the folk art forms have not lost its identity, said former president of the Taluk Kannada Sahitya parishat M L Narasimhamurthy.
Also present at the function were president of Kalaranga C S Krishnamurthy, Taluk Journalists’ Association president Y Somashekar and others.
Bhavai bhajans conducted by Niyaz Anwar of Rajastan enthralled the audience.
