TTK tenders resignation
NEW DELHI, Feb 2

Union Finance Minister T T Krishnamachari has resigned from the Cabinet, according to circles close to the Government of India.

This decision was conveyed to Prime Minister Nehru and in the last few days the request that he be relieved was renewed. It is learnt that the Prime Minister is yet to take a decision. There were reports during the Congress session in Gauhati last month and before the Chagla Commission began its work that Mr Krishnamachari had told some of his associates about his decision to resign.

End mad race in producing arms
JAIPUR, Feb 2
Prime Minister Nehru made here today a renewed appeal to the big Powers to desist from making destructive weapons. These weapons he said would not bring them peace, but lead them to total destruction. Mr Nehru made a survey of the international and national problems to emphasise that the Gandhian non-violent way was the only solution to bring peace.

Rajiv and Stephen made AICC-I General Secretaries

NEW DELHI, Feb 2
Mr Rajiv Gandhi, Member of Parliament and son of the Prime Minister, has been made a General Secretary of the AICC(I).
The AICC(I) today announced the appointment made by party President Indira Gandhi. The appointment of Mr C M Stephen as a General Secretary announced by himself a few days ago has now been formalised.
