The man behind the [V] promo with the sitar version of Sweet Child of mine is VJ Aditya Kapoor. Believe it or not, this “chilled out dude” is a perfectionist who went through the trouble of learning to play the sitar instead of simply acting it out.
Excerpts from an interview:
How did VJ’ing happen to you?
I went in for an audition through a friend of a friend. It all just worked out by chance.
I have always loved music and it is great to be working with a TV channel that is associated with music.
Your personal favourite VJs. Why?
It has to be Lola Kutty! Cos’ she’s crazy!
How does a VJ get rid of a “chatterer’s block”?
We just do retakes! (laughs)
If you had to pick a male/female celebrity as winners of [V] India’s Hottest, who would they be?
Let me see... Rahul Gandhi and Malaika Arora Khan.
Your other interests.
Playing the guitar, jamming with friends, playing snooker, cricket... normal things.
Top five numbers on your playlist...
Aflatoon, Stairway to heaven, Oye come va, Got put a smile upon your face, and L.A woman.
Films someday?
I don’t say no to anything cos’ I don’t want to have any regrets in life. So yes, I may get into films. But nothing great has come along yet.
Ahana Deol and you...
Just friends!
Lesser known things about you.
...that I am a Sociology graduate (which sounds really nice, but is really nothing!) And my left big toe is much bigger than my right big toe! (laughs)
