He not only got it at a special function held at the Raj Bhawan where he was decorated with the medal by Rajasthan Goveror S K Singh, his name might just enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the sole recipient of such a delayed honour.
A former student of Maharaja’s College in Jaipur, Khandelwal had passed the Intermediate examination in 1951 securing First division and third position in the university of Rajasthan. The university had planned to award him the Glancy Medal for being the Best Academic Student of the year. Though the university announced the award, he was not given the award all these years. But his perseverance worked after 56 years when he received a call from the Raj Bhawan early this year.
He was honoured by Governor on January 5, in his capacity as the Chancellor to rectify the mistake on the University’s part. It was an unusual ceremony where the recipient and the Chancellor honouring him were both in their 70s.
Triloki Das Khandelwal, actively associated with Social Security Foundation has been instrumental in getting the old age pension amount increased from the central govt. His perseverance was lauded by the Rajasthan government. He has also played an active role in making the Nawab Sahib ki Haveli, the residence of Vidyadhar Chakravarty, the architect of Jaipur city as a major tourist attraction.
