Folk fair captivates city folks
DH News Service, Tumkur:
Variety of dance dramas, folk performances, artistes cald in different dressing styles, instruments and musical tones,... these marked the folk fair which kickstarted in the city on Sunday

The fair was organised as part of the Zilla Utsav by district administration, folk music and Yakshagana Bayalata artistes’ association, Kunchabrahma P R Thippeswamy art association and Kannada and Culture department.

The fair was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner at 11.30 am at the historical Kote Anjaneya swami temple and the art groups passed through the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Bus stand, office of the CMC, B H Road and culminated at the venue of Zilla Utsav. It provided a golden opportunity for various art forms which are on the verge of extinction.

The folk fair was also a real treat to the eyes of citizens especially for the youngsters who would otherwise get very less opportunity to witness these art forms which represent our culture. Some of the art forms which captivated the audience were Somana Kunitha, Chittimela, Kombukahale, Harevadya, Tamate Mela, Pooja Kunitha, Maragalu Kunitha, Hejje Mela and many others.

Public had gathered in large numbers to witness the special art forms and artistes.
