DH News Service, Kolar:
The anti-farmers policies of the UPA government at Centre and Congress government in the State is mainly responsible for increase in number of suicides by the farmers in the State, alleged BJP State president D V Sadananda Gowda here on Sunday.

He was speaking at the Raj Bhavan Chalo rally organised by the BJP Kisan Morcha against the anti-farmer policies of the UPA government in Centre and Congress government in the State.

He alleged the UPA government has stopped all the pro-farmer policies undertaken by the NDA government. The former deputy chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had brought in several farmer-friendly policies which resulted in the decline of suicides by the farmers in the State.

It is tragedy that few hundred liquor barons and granite owners can move the governments where as farmers who constitute 60 per cent of the population are helpless, Mr Gowda said.

He called upon the farmers should to organise themselves to fight against the injustice and urged the people to support BJP to enable them to make Yeddyurappa as the chief minister of the State.

The rally has been organised to draw the attention of the government towards the problem faced by the farmers.
The rally will reach Raj Bhavan in Bangalore on February 5 and will stage a protest in front of it. Farmers from all over the State are taking part in the rally.

BJP leader Kailasa Kumar, Legislative Council member D S Veeraiah, former Legislative Council member B P Venkatamuniyappa, district BJP Kisan Morcha president Shankaranarayana Reddy, Mahila Morcha leader Pramila Mallikarjuna, Sukanya, Nayakanahalli Venkategowda, Oorabagilu Srinivas and  several workers were
