'Ignorance is the root cause for health problems'
DH News Service, Mulbagal:
Due to illiteracy, ignorance and superstition, women face severe health complications, said Tayaluru ZP member K Yashodamma.

She was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on women’s health problems at Bale Changappa Government Primary School in Someswarapalya of Mulbagal town. The programme was jointly organised by Kannasandra Samridhi Trust and the department of health.

Many women hide their health problems mainly due to  financial constraints.

This is not right as the disease gets worsened by the day and it becomes too expensive and complicated to treat, she said.

She called upon the NGOs to to create more awareness among women about their health issues. She said she will appeal in the Zilla Panchayat   meetings for more funds to be reserved for the health of rural women and for those below poverty line.

President of Samridhi Trust M Kanthamma presided over the function. Health officer Kadenahalli Dr Manu spoke about various women related health issues.

Counsellor Narasimha spoke about HIV/AIDS and block level health officer Kurudumale Muniratnaiah spoke about general health problems. Munigangaiah welcomed the gathering. V Roopasri proposed vote of thanks.
