A workshop on Kannada language for the railway staff was organised jointly by the Kannada Development Authority and Kannada and Culture department here on Monday.
Inaugurating the workshop Head Quarter Assistant to the office of Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma said “railway department is the symbol of unity. Learning of local language helps the staff to interact and provide better service to the customers.”
Kannada Development Authority Member Pradeep Kumar Kalkura lauded the railway department for their concern for learning Kannada.
The workshop will be held for 90 days. During the period, the railway officials, family members will be taught to communicate in Kannada. There is a plan to hold similar workshops in airport and NMPT for the employees.
Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director H C Rangappa, Southern Railway Assistant Divisional Engineer Vijay Singh, Collegiate Education Deputy Director Linda Christy and others were present.
