Anganwadi workers to picket Raj Bhavan on February 7
DH News Service, Chintamani:
State Anganwadi Workers Federation coordinator N Sundar Raj has said here that on February 7 Anganwadi workers from all over the state will lay siege to the Raj Bhavan under 'siege Raj Bhavan' programme to pressurise the State government to fulfil various demands of the Anganwadi workers.

“State government should ensure that food supplied to the Anganwadi is directly  supplied to their centre unlike present system where it is supplied through a gram panchayat or Stree Shakti or other local bodies and government should drop privatisation of the Anganwadis”, expressed Sundar Raj.

“Government to give Rs 1000 and Rs 500 to  Anganwadi workers and assistants as pension and Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 50,000 as pension fund to workers and assistants respectively”, demanded Sundar Raj who said that Maharastra government has already set aside Rs 150 crore for the purpose of  the workers pension and  Provident Fund.

“Thought the state government has promised to set up a similar fund like that of the Maharastra government nothing has been undertaken” criticised Raj who said that state government should stop allotting other department works to the Anganwadi workers and should evolve a clear transfer policy.

“The government should in phased manner provide all the benefits enjoyed by the state government employees to workers”, noted Sundar Raj who said many  workers association will take part in the siege. He requested the Anganwadi workers of the Kolar and Chikkaballapur district to assemble at Bangalore City railway station by 9.30 am on February 7. He urged to the Chintamani workers to assemble at the bus stop by 7.30 am on February 7 to make a big success.
