Women should take on new social roles and should not limit themselves to the house-hold works, suggested Inspector Maheshkumar.
He was speaking at ‘Srishti Kalanjiyam’, a programme for women, organised by Dan Foundation, Stri Shakti and Self Help Groups in Koratagere.He called upon the women to be economically empowered through Stri Shakti Sangha and other self-help groups.
The economic empowerment would help women fight against the domestic violence, he opined. A legal awareness camp will be held for women soon, he said.
Taluk Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Nagaraju said that the women should not use the cosmetics produced using harmful chemicals and instead they should go for local, traditional cosmetics. This would also boost growth of native cosmetic industries, he opined.
Presiding over the programme TP president Ravikumar said, the union government has implemented several schemes for women. Agriculture Development Bank Manager V S Raju distributed loan Rs 50,000 cheques for each association.
