The birth centenary celebrations of the architect of Vidhana Soudha, Kengal Hanumanthaiah will be held on February 10. The stage is being set for a grand celebration at the Government Junior College premises in Ramanagara district.
He was born on February 10, 1908 at Lakkanahalli in Ramnagar. Though it was initially decided to celebrate the centenary in Bangalore, it was felt that it would be more appropriate to celebrate it in his birth place in Ramanagar, said the committee convener T Sripad Renu.
Former CM H D Kumaraswamy, BJP State unit president D V Sadanandagouda, Karnataka Janapada Parishat president G Narayan, BSP leader P G R Sindhia, industrialist Harish Khoday and former legislator C M Lingappa are likely to participate, he said.
Meanwhile, after a meeting of high-power panel set for this purpose at Raj Bhavan, Legislative Council Chairman B K Chandrashekar told reporters that 100th birth day of Kengal Hanumanthaiah will be celebrated throughout the year and various programmes have been chalked for the purpose.A Rs 50 lakh will be spent in this regard.
