The town development authority had directed the CMC to evict shops constructed at the busy footpaths of bus stand some years ago. But the eviction works could not be started after the local people opposed it. Though in 1995, when some shops were evicted at M G Road by the Kolar town development authority, again due to the opposition from the local people the works were stopped.
Even on Wednesday, members of Varthur faction tried to stop the eviction works saying that they were concerned about the welfare of the petty shop owners.
However, due to the intervention of the police no untoward incident has been reported.
City Municipal Commissioner M Ramachandra has temporarily postponed the eviction of shops.
