Former Irrigation Minister H N Nanje Gowda on Wednesday urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to take steps for construction of Shivanasamudram and Mekedatu hydel projects immediately despite the objections raised by Tamil Nadu.

Gowda said that both the projects fall entirely within the territory of Karnataka and even the Tribunal had given a verdict in favour of the state. Gowda said in an MoU between the two states in 1998 Karnataka had agreed to the sharing of power generated by Rasimanal and Hogenkal. The State had objected to the sharing of power generated by Shivanasamudram and Mekedatu projects.
